The son of John & Mary Ann Adamik, I am the youngest of two brothers. I was born in Columbus, Ohio on November 15, 1974. Since the age of three, I was raised by my family amidst the rolling hills and small farms in rural Perry County, Ohio and lived there until I went off to college. I graduated from Capital University, Columbus, Ohio, in 1997 with a degree in Social Studies-Secondary Education. I taught high school history in Fairborn, Ohio until enrolling at Trinity Lutheran Seminary, from where I graduated in 2004.
I have served two congregations since my ordination on June 9th, 2005: Christ Lutheran Church, Madisonville, KY (two years); St. Peter Lutheran Church, Milton, KY (two and a half years). During my time serving in the Indiana-Kentucky Synod, I have been actively involved with Lutheran Outdoor Ministries (LOMIK), volunteering one week each summer as camp pastor at Lutheran Hills Campground in Brown County. I currently serve on both the synod’s ‘Church & Society’ Committee (formerly Social Ministry Committee) and on the Synod Outreach Committee. I am also the chair of the Southeast Indiana Conference’s Outreach Team. I have also served the conference in training and mentoring Lay Worship Leaders.
My passions in the life of the church center on quality worship leadership, music, and preaching, visitation as a vital part of caring for souls, and ministry to the elderly and youth—the two groups that tend to have the least power in society. My passions in my personal life center in God—Source of all that is—who loves you and me enough to die for and whose business is saving all people, the least of those people being me. Other passions include (in no particular order) family, health & fitness, hiking, fishing, spiritual renewal, social justice, questioning the way things are, reading good books and poetry, savoring good food, all kinds of music (some examples: Gregorian chant, classical & baroque, jazz, Delta & Chicago blues, Hank Williams/Johnny Cash-era country music, bluegrass, folk, ‘oldies’ rock, classic rock, ‘80’s “big hair” heavy metal, and even some rap), ‘The’ Ohio State University Buckeyes J, and my two babies: my cats Tippy & Petey!
Appointed your Interim Pastor by Bishop James R. Stuck and approved by your council, I plan to serve you helpfully as we begin to discern what God is up to in Hubbells Corners and where God’s Spirit is leading you, as God’s beloved. I pray that we prepare well for the future Called Pastor and for the future ministry of St. John Lutheran Church, doing God’s work with Our Hands.
May the peace of our risen Lord be with you all!
Pastor Chad
